I'm Back

Happy Halloween. Some shoplots in KL's shopping malls are lightly decorated with creepy sightings promoting the up coming Halloween. Some other places are still enveloped with Eid Fitr and Deepavali things. I heard a group of teenagers happily talking and giggling of what to do and where to go for Halloween on my way to work in a Light Railway Transit (LRT) train. Well, nightclub is surely one of the places they want to hang out with their friends. My wife and I went to Hong Kong Disneyland for Halloween last year. It was a great escapade. Here in My Home-Malaysian Artistes For Unity

Pete was juggling tomatoes. Bored. So he telephoned a few friends. “How about getting together to make an anti-racism national unity song and music video?” All said yes without hesitation. Not because pete threatened them with a sharp and rusty knife. But only because they love Malaysia.

The contingent swelled to 52 people a few days later. It included filmmakers, dancers, singers, producers, musicians, actors, entrepreneurs, designers, footballers, activists, celebrities, students and a florist. Nobody would be paid. Yet they were enthused. See the artistes

They gathered to record the song. It had a catchy chorus and was able to induce a mass sing-along. They named it ‘here in my home’. The party now included more than 120 people. But the budget remained exactly zero.

Everyone turned up for the video shoot. Both the recording and the video would be given away for free. A gift to the nation, from those who love Malaysia to those who feel the same. Read more.

Campukak: Sad over what’s going on in Malaysia ‘Here in My Home’ at the moment. The MV directed by Yasmin Ahmad and sang by Malaysian Artistes. It's about the hope of all Malaysian. Watch it, Here it, Feel It, Instil it. Happy 51st Birthday MALAYSIA!

Tun Mahathir finally starts his own blog

KUALA LUMPUR: Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is now a blogger.

He is blogging through his website http://www.chedet.com/, which is named after the pseudonym he used when he wrote articles for the newspapers.

In his profile, Dr Mahathir lists himself simply as the "Prime Minister of Malaysia 1981 – 2003".

Campukak: Sure a hit site..

Let the Flag be mightier than the Keris

Keris as we know refers to a short dagger from South East Asia. It has decorative handle and a wavy blade reminiscent of a snake. It is said to have originated in Indonesia.
"On arrival of Islam (in Indonesia), the Hindu warlords and their pande scattered, but their old faith in Vishnu and Civa did not die. The powers of these two Hindu gods came to be passed into the keris, and the wearing of the keris now shifted from the exclusive right of the noble class to a universal practice whereby every commoner carried one. The original keris forms, said by Ngabehi Karjadikrama to be only four (Brodjol, Tilamputih, Sangkelat, and Panimbal) from which all others derive, were greatly diversified." Forbidden Kingdom The Movie

The Forbidden Kingdom, a 2008 Hollywood martial arts-adventure film directed by Rob Minkoff. It is the first film starring together two of the most well-known names in the martial arts film genre, Jackie Chan and Jet Li.

Production began in early May 2007 in the area around the Gobi Desert in China.

Before filming began, the entire cast did a costume fitting and a script read through, certain dialogues were altered to suit the different actors' English speaking abilities; this was due to the majority of the cast having English as their second language.

Filming continued at the Wuyi Mountains and at the Hengdian World Studios. Filming finished on August 24, 2007.
Campukak: Finally the two masters of the Kung Fu kingdom reunited in one awsome movie. Jet Li and Jacky Chan made the movie flawlessly brilliant. It was not just the encounter between the two masters but the encounter of East and West movie calloboration, between the Myth and Reality of Kung Fu, between death and reincarnation, between the mortal and the immortal and so on. I love to see the gracious move made by the actresses Liu Yi Fei and Li BingBing. An endless production of talented chinese actresses.

INTERNATIONAL EARTH DAY - APRIL 22nd, 2008

John McConnell first introduced the idea of a global holiday called "Earth Day" at a UNESCO Conference on the Environment in 1969. UN Secretary-General U Thant supported McConnell's global initiative to celebrate this annual event, and on February 26, 1971, he signed a proclamation to that effect. More information, here.

The United Nations celebrates Earth Day, which was founded by John McConnell in 1969, each year on the March equinox, while a global observance originated by Gaylord Nelson as an environmental teach-in, and since January 1970 also called Earth Day, is celebrated in many countries each year on April 22, including the U.S. Read more.

Barangan Kulit dari Babi

(Tanda Titik 3)

-Kasut wanita pun banyak (paling banyak masa sales)
-Sandal Lelaki.

Banyak terdapat di kompleks membeli belah terutamanya;

-Perangin Mall
-Bukit Jambul
-Gurney Plaza
-Komtar
-Sunshine
-GAMA
-Pasific
-SOGO
-Queensbay

Campukak: Pernah terserempak dengan jualan sales, barangan kasut sukan di Wisma Merdeka (Kedai Kasut Adidas-berdekatan tangga bergerak, fasa 2 Wisma Merdeka). Walking sport shoe jenama Adidas buatan China sedang dipromosikan.

Tragedy Struck The Only Rail Service In Borneo

(Picture: NSTP)

(White Water Rafting in Padas River)

By : Joniston Bangkuai, Roy Goh and Julia Chan

TENOM: A man and a woman in their 40s were killed and 39 others injured when a train derailed and plunged 20m into Sungai Padas in Sabah, an internationally known river for its white water rafting adventure through dense Borneo Tropical Rainforest.

The woman is believed to have drowned when she was thrown out of the carriage while the man was pinned underneath the wreckage in the river. The body of the woman was recovered almost immediately while the man's body was extricated three hours later at 6.45pm.

The train driver fractured his right leg, while two others -- a man and a woman -- broke their left leg and hip respectively and were warded at the district hospital. The rest of the passengers suffered minor injuries and were given outpatient treatment.

Most of the passengers onboard the old diesel locomotive were locals travelling between villages.
It was reported that the railway service will temporarily be halted to pave way for geological investigation on the current route. The eco-tourism activities would be badly effected since the train service is the only way to get to the Panggi Station (Starting Point) for daily excursion. Otherwise the tourists would have to go to Tenom via Tambunan-Keningau road (200 kM), since the newly completed Kimanis-Keningau Highway is also severely damaged by landslide.

Read on Sabah Railway History here.

Campukak: The journey from Padas Gorge to Panggi Station by train is one of the best experience one could encounter when following a white water rafting trip downstream along Padas River. Padas River is class III-IV river (Class I-Mild, Class V and VI-Dangerous) and claimed to have the best rapids in South East Asia such as Merry-Go-Round Rapid, Break Point Rapid, Scooby Doo Rapid, Cobra Rapid,Curve Rapid, Lambada Rapid, and Head Hunter Rapid.

Sufiah Yusuf - Points to Ponder

"Would you like to start your half hour now?" said Sufiah, 23, as she danced on the bed, displaying her body for examination.

Calling herself Shilpa Lee, the former child prodigy still juggles with figures on a hookers' website, describing herself as a "very pretty size 8, 32D bust and 5'5" tall—available for booking every day from 11am to 8pm."

She says she is a "sexy, smart student" who prefers "older gentlemen"— but a former pal who has witnessed her downfall told us: "It is all desperately heartbreaking.

The gifted girl with the winning smile had the world at her feet ten years ago and should be a rich woman by now—but last week she was busy subtracting her underwear for our undercover reporter in her dingy back street flat. Read more..

Mermaid seen in Semporna?

Semporna Holiday Resort.. The view reminds me of Kg. Karamunting Lama, Sandakan.
The resort at Tampi-tampi, Semporna.

It was seldom for me to stay until at the very end of a movie to watch the scrolling credits of the film. But I did on Duyung the Movie by KRUstudios, as I did on movies like Transformers (to enjoy the OST by Linkin’ Park), Cicak Man and a few other Jacky Chan movies.

The reason for me to stay was simply to satisfy my curiosity over the setting (screenplay) of the movie. Clear blue water with eye-catching coral reef and rich exotic marine life sprawling and dancing around the beautiful Duyung (mermaid) acted by Maya Karin. And guess what.. some of the original set was quite familiar to my senses.

My instinct kept convincing me that it was the place where I spent my last year’s (2007) Eid ul- Fitr holiday with my family in-law in Semporna (Sabah, Malaysian Borneo). To be exact, The Semporna Holiday Resort at Tampi-tampi, Semporna. And yes, the movie was filmed there besides some other internationally known dive sites and resorts such as Sipadan Island, Mataking Island and as well as Mabul Island.

The newly elected Member of Parliament of Semporna, Datuk Mohd Shafie Haji Apdal who was recently appointed as the Minister of Unity, Arts, Culture and Heritage should work hand in hand with Ministry of Natural Resources & Environment for the protection of the precious fragile environment and Ministry of Tourism for the worldwide promotion and marketing. And of cause pledge and assurance of safety by our maritime security agency and Malaysian Royal Navy forces on the sovereignity of our islands (thanks to m&m for the comment). An opportunity for him (the minister) to prove his worth to the people who extended his service for another term. A heritage worth fighting for our future generation inheritance.

My only hope that the beautiful scenery setting was not generated by CGI (Computer Generated Image) scenes. KRUstudios was reported to have created around 200 CGI effects to support the movie. One of the awesome CGI scene in the movie was the treasure cavern where Putri (the mermaid) brought Jimmy (Apek) for a sightseeing. Congrats KRUstudios.

Malaysian Political Scene.. Dusk Or Dawn?

A new era on Malaysian politics. Whether it is the scenery of dusk or dawn of an era.. well we're lucky enough to witness it on our very own eyes. Recent outcomes showed the active involvement of Malay Sultanate on the choice of Menteri Besars and how the politician react on bringing the Rakyat into the political scuffle.

'Rumah siap, pahat masih berbunyi' means unfinish business on a completed project in malay saying, goes to Pak Lah's administrative especially when looking on the minor details of the choice of his cabinet ministers. Screenshots has the insights on the scenario, here.

The reaction from Sabah Member of Parliments on the choice of Pak Lah's cabinet turning on a new page when another Deputy Minister resigned from the post, here.

While another newly elected minister from Sabah declined to comment on that issue, here.

A new speculation on "vote for no confidence" is being rumoured, but the justification on the reasoning still lingers.

Campukak: Screenshots is mentioning on to mark April 15th for another political twist! Hmm I wonder what.. Persidangan Majlis Raja-raja.. who knows.

My Biggest Mistake

Prime Minister Abdullah Ahmad Badawi said this week that his "biggest mistake" was to ignore cyber-campaigning, and the new information minister has said he will reach out to bloggers.

Alternate news was read avidly ahead of the recently held elections that handed the ruling coalition its worst ever results in its half-century reign over Malaysia.

Malaysia's blogs and alternative news websites have become popular because some people believe the mainstream press, which is mostly linked to the government, is biased.

However, The Malaysian High Court made a decision on Wednesday (26/3) after Raja Petra Kamaruddin (who runs Malaysia Today website) and the opposition party Keadilan's newspaper, which also published the alleged story, failed to file a defence, the official Bernama news agency said.

It ordered Raja Petra to pay 4.0 million ringgit (1.25 million dollars) to Vice-Chansellor of University Utara Malaysia, Nordin Kardi and University Utara Malaysia itself, while two editors of "Suara Keadilan" had to pay 3.0 million ringgit.

University Utara Malaysia and its vice-chancellor filed a lawsuit against Raja Petra , over an item that alleged Nordin had plagiarised an article.

Nordin said his victory would inspire others, including politicians, to take legal action against people who abuse blogs.

Campukak-Terung Pipit (Solanum Tarvum), Turkeyberry (U.S.)

Turkeyberry is also known by devil’s fig, wild egg plant, terongan, pea eggplant, makhua phuang (Thai: มะเขือพวง), Shui qie (Chinese) and many other names. Turkeyberry apparently is native from Florida and southern Alabama through the West Indies (Little and others 1974). Turkey berry has been introduced and naturalized throughout tropical Africa, Asia, Australia, and the Pacific Islands including Hawaii, Guam, and American Samoa (Pacific Island Ecosystems at Risk 2001).

Che'Nelle - KK Born Artist To The Limelight Of the World

Born in a quaint and little known town of Kota Kinabalu, Sabah state of Malaysia.

At the age of ten, Che'Nelle and her parents moved to the relatively vibrant city of Perth, Western Australia.
It was nothing like she was used to, especially since it was faster, and most of the people did not look like her.

At 14 she joined a Top 40 cover band and did it for 5 years. Going to college to learn how to produce—with Logic Pro and Pro Tools—was Che’Nelle’s next big step toward stardom. Che'nelle studied music at the West Australian Academy of Performing Arts.

While still working on her self-produced demo in her excruciatingly modest bedroom studio, Che'Nelle uploaded her recordings on to her now renowned myspace page.
Amidst the countless hits of her page, her now manager - radio veteran and club DJ of 17 years - Sir Charles Dixon, stumbled on what was too good to be true.

Dixon took her material to Virgin Records and flew Che'nelle to Los Angeles at the end of 2005 to meet with the label. The chairman of the label and longtime music business baron, Jason Flom, refrained from much a rhetoric dance and committed to signing her immediately. Within two days, she had signed the deal and was marketed as a world artist.
Campukak: Promised to upload the video file once converted to flash.. Go Che'Nelle Go..
